The multifunctional sports complex of the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports hosted the opening of multi-sport competitions dedicated to the upcoming International Women’s Day on March 8. Students and faculty from over 20 higher educational institutions across the country are competing for medals in five disciplines: classical tennis, table tennis, volleyball, 3x3 basketball, and chess.
The opening ceremony was a vibrant celebration featuring patriotic songs about the homeland and dynamic dance performances by renowned groups, with the “Red Carnation” ensemble leaving a particularly memorable impression. Young athletes from sections of traditional (goresh) wrestling, judo, rhythmic gymnastics, handball, basketball, volleyball, ITF taekwon-do, and figure skating showcased their skills in demonstration programs.
