The Turkmenistan national football team secured an away victory against Taiwan in the qualifying stage of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup. The Group «D» match took place in Kaohsiung and ended with a 2-1 win for the visitors. For the hosts, Ange Samuel scored in the 63rd minute. Turkmenistan's goals were scored by Elman Tagayev (48th minute) and Yazgulych Gurbanov (83rd minute).
The winner of Group «D,» which also includes Thailand and Sri Lanka, will qualify for the Asian Cup. In the next round on June 10, Turkmenistan will host Thailand, while the Chinese Taipei team will play away against Sri Lanka.
The final tournament of the 2027 AFC Asian Cup, which will be hosted in Saudi Arabia for the first time, will feature the winners of six qualifying groups. Previously, 18 teams had already secured their spots in the final stage of the 2027 Asian Cup.
The AFC Asian Cup is held every four years, with the first edition taking place in 1956.
