Ashgabat hosts mass race «Sport is the key to peace and trust»

A 3600-meter mass race «Sport is the key to peace and trust» was held in the capital of Turkmenistan. Students of higher educational institutions of the country, students of comprehensive secondary schools and representatives of the older generation from Ashgabat took part in the race.

 Initiated by the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, this sporting event was organized by the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Physical Culture and Sports jointly with the Ministry of Education, the Youth Organization of Turkmenistan named after Makhtumkuli and the Ashgabat city administration in order to attract broad sections of the population to systematic physical education and sports, promote a healthy lifestyle and strengthen friendly ties among the participants.

 More than 500 running enthusiasts took part in the mass race. The youngest of them was 9 years old and the oldest was 67 years old.

 In the competition among girls, the 5th-year student of the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan Enejan Esedova won with a result of 14 minutes 33.8 seconds, and among the boys, the winner was the 3rd-year student of the International University of Oil and Gas Pena Babaniyazov, who ran the distance in 9 minutes 22 seconds.

 In the schoolchildren's race, the first to cross the finish line among the girls was a 6th-grade student of Secondary School No. 76 in Ashgabat Aylar Seydullaeva. Her time was 15 minutes 49.5 seconds. And among the boys, the best result was 13 minutes 12.2 seconds, shown by a 7th-grade student of Secondary School No. 74 in Ashgabat Orazmyrat Orazmyradov.

 Among the fans of a healthy lifestyle, the first place among women was taken by V.Bayeva with a time of 17 minutes 15 seconds. Among men, the first to finish was a resident of the residential area Garadamak S.Saparov, who covered the distance in 11 minutes 52 seconds.

 The winners of the mass race and other distinguished participants were awarded valuable gifts and certificates.
