Turkmen judoka Oguljan Ruslanova won a bronze medal at the recently concluded the Quba Millennium Team Cadet European Cup 2025 in Azerbaijan, which gathered 354 athletes from 12 countries. This success was achieved by the 11th-grade student of secondary school No. 61 in the Charjev district of Lebap region in the under-70 kg weight category, where 18 athletes from 8 countries competed for the medals, the Turkmenistan: Golden age electronic newspaper reports.
In her first match, Oguljan defeated Rena Ahmadova (Azerbaijan) by ippon in 30 seconds. In the second match, despite trailing with a yuko score and having two penalties, she secured a determined and clean victory over Russian Sofya Yarmantovich, who competed under the flag of the International Judo Federation (IJF).
In the match for a place in the final, O.Ruslanova narrowly lost by a single yuko to Nini Dzagania (Georgia). In the bronze medal match, thanks to a waza-ari score, she prevailed over Russian Alina Chekmareva and was awarded the bronze medal. Alongside our compatriot, Georgian Maia Ghvaladze also stepped onto the third podium place after winning the match for the second bronze medal against Russian Sofia Yarmantovich. The silver medalist was Georgian Nini Dzagania, and the winner of the tournament in the under-70 kg category was Lucie Rullier (France).
This is already the second medal of the 16-year-old judoka from Lebap at international competitions. Last week Oguljan Ruslanova won bronze at the Berlin Millennium Team Cadet European Cup 2025.
