Turkmen chess players win five medals at the Western Asian Youth Chess Championship 2025

The Western Asian Youth Chess Championship 2025 was held in Dushanbe, the capital of the Republic of Tajikistan.

The competition brought together about 200 children and young men under 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 from 12 countries. Turkmenistan was represented by 17 talented players who showed impressive results.

Among girls under 18, one of the most experienced chess players in our country, Leyla Shohradova (rating 2029), won the gold medal in blitz. Among boys under 8, Charyhekim Charyyev (rating 1732) won the bronze medal in blitz. Representatives of the Turkmenistan national team Maksat Avliyakuliyev (rating 1739), Myrat Merdanov (rating 1803) and Didar Hupbyyev (rating 1613) won bronze medals among boys under 10 in team competitions in classical chess, rapid and blitz.

Thus, the Turkmenistan national team won one gold and four bronze medals at the Western Asian Youth Chess Championship 2025.
