Employees of the Service Enterprises Group Morinzhgeologiya climbed the western and eastern peaks of Elbrus, the highest points in Europe, where they unfurled the State Flag of Turkmenistan in honor of the upcoming 34th anniversary of our country's independence, The Golden age electronic newspaper reports.
Between the western (5642 m) and eastern peaks (5621 m) lies the saddle (5416 m), the highest mountain ridge in the Caucasus. Both peaks are covered with snow year-round, giving the mountain the appearance of Grey Elbrus – an ancient sleeping volcano that formed about a million years ago. These two peaks are the symbol of the mountain.
The experienced mountaineers have behind them successful ascents of Mount Ararat (Armenia, 5165 meters, 2011), Kilimanjaro (5895 meters, 2014) and Meru (4562 meters, 2014) in Tanzania; Aconcagua (Andes, 6960.8 meters, 2018) on the border of Argentina and Chile; Mont Blanc (Western Alps, 4810 meters, 2018) on the border of France and Italy. In 2019, the climbers conquered the highest point in the world, the "roof of the Earth" – Jomolungma or Everest (border of China and Nepal, 8848 meters). And finally, in 2024, they completed an ascent of one of the most difficult and the second highest peak in the world – Chogori or K2 in the Karakoram Mountain range (border of China and Pakistan, 8611 meters), unfurling the Turkmen flag at all these peaks.
