Our young athlete performed successfully at the 3rd Asian Youth Games held in Bahrain

From October 26 to 30, the national team of Turkmenistan performed successfully at the 3rd Asian Youth Games held in Bahrain and won prize places.

During the competition, the athletes representing Turkmenistan won three medals — one gold and two bronze. At the 3rd Asian Youth Games, our weightlifter, a student of the “Olimp” Secondary Sports School of the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Physical Culture and Sports, Didarbek Jumabayev, set a new record at the Asian Games and brought two medals to our homeland.

The student of Ashgabat’s “Olimp” Sports School competed in the weight category up to 79 kilograms and, lifting 177 kilograms in the clean and jerk, earned the highest award — the gold medal. Setting a new record at the Asian Youth Games, he made the National Anthem of Turkmenistan resound and proudly raised our green flag high.

He also won a bronze medal in the snatch event with a result of 138 kilograms.

The competition brought together more than 4,000 athletes from 45 Asian countries and was held in the capital of the Kingdom of Bahrain — Manama. The sports delegation of Turkmenistan, consisting of 38 young athletes, competed in eight sports such as weightlifting, boxing, wrestling, basketball, and kurash.

All the medals won by our young athletes once again demonstrate that even in the “International Year of Peace and Trust,” Turkmenistan’s achievements in sports continue to grow. This is clear evidence that, in the Revival of the New Era of the Powerful State, under the initiative of the Hero Arkadag and the leadership of the Honorable President, great importance is attached to the development of Turkmenistan’s sports sector at the international level.
