A mass athletics race was organized and held in Turkmenabat by the Permanent Mission of the UN Development Programme in Turkmenistan. It was timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of permanent neutrality of the Turkmenistan and the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Organization of United Nations, The Golden age electronic newspaper reports.
The sporting event, held under the motto «Confident steps toward peace and sustainable development», was attended by staff from the regional office of the Ministry of foreign affairs of Turkmenistan, representatives of political parties and public organizations, athletes and coaches, education, culture, and healthcare professionals, and volunteers.
The participants of 5-kilometer long-distance race started from Main flag square of Turkmenabat to the rousing performances of singers and musicians and continued compete along Bitarap Turkmenistan street.
Turkmenabat residents Gurtgeldi Gurdov and Nargiza Kadyrova confidently completed designated distance, finishing first. Among the boys and girls, Muhammet Durdymyradov and Aziza Atahanova, students from Secondary school №14 in the Farap district, took first place. The winners and medalists were presented with diplomas and gifts in a ceremonial setting.
