The Central and North Asian Youth Chess Championship was held on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul in the Kyrgyz Republic. Representatives from six countries in the region participated in the competition.
The first medal event was Rapid Chess, which was held using the Swiss system over seven rounds with a time control of 10 minutes per game with a 5-second increment per move. In this event, the Turkmen athletes won two gold, two silver, and one bronze medal.
The gold medal in the youngest age group for girls 8 and under was won by Meryem Rustemova, a third-grade student at Specialized Secondary School No. 41 in Turkmenabat. She scored 6 points out of a possible 7. In the U10 age category, Bagul Jumayeva, a fourth-grade student from Secondary School No. 2 in Danev district, Lebap region, won the gold medal with 6.5 points.
Turkmen chess players won two silver medals in the oldest age category U20.
In the men's tournament, Amanmuhammet Hommadov, a third-year student at the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Education and Sports, achieved this feat with 5 points.
In the women's tournament, Lala Shohradova, a student at the Yagshigeldy Kakayev International University of Oil and Gas, won the silver medal with 5 points.
Aya Bayramova, a seventh-grade student from Secondary School No. 31 in Turkmenabat, won the bronze medal in the U12 age category with 5.5 points.
The successful performance of the Turkmen chess players at the championship confirmed the high level of training of the country's young athletes and marked another achievement for the national chess school on the international stage.
