Turkmenistan’s athletes won a total of 554 medals at international competitions from January to September of this year. This was reported by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers B. Mammedov at a Government meeting during which the results of the country’s socio-economic development for the first nine months of 2026 were reviewed, The Golden age electronic newspaper reports.

It was noted that during the period under review, work was carried out to develop physical culture and sports. Having demonstrated strong results at major competitions, Turkmen athletes won 83 medals in July and August. Thus, over the first nine months of this year, the medal tally of Turkmenistan’s national teams increased to 554 medals.

After hearing the report, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the importance of consistently improving activities in the fields of science and education, healthcare, and sports. At the same time, it was noted that particular attention should be paid to organizing the education and training of the younger generation in educational institutions in accordance with the realities of the times.
